I use Lock Codes mainly for 2 things:
1) "Codes Online" option: Allows user to input vehicle lock code to get key cuts. Especially useful for Toyotas, Hondas/Acuras and Chrysler vehicles w/ code from Cross Country. Also useful for any other type of vehicle w/ key-code from rental car agencies or from a lock on the vehicle. This essentially replaces HPC CodeSource and is always up-to-date. May require monthly $ subscription / I don't know (employer pays for it).
2) "Fill" option: Allows user to input known key cuts for vehicle key to get missing cuts. Especially useful for Saturns, where there are 3 extra cuts in the ignition than in the door/trunk. 4^3 possibilities = 64 possibilities on probably something around 20 to 30 key blanks. Instead of that, it will usually give you 2 to 5 possibilities, and you can try them all on 2 or 3 key blanks. Works about 90% of the time in my experience. Also useful for 8-cut Fords (H75), 8-cut Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Jeep (Y159) and the new Kia/Hyundai 10-cuts (HY16/HY17). Saves lots of time from long progressions on 90% of the jobs.
This will essentially (almost) rid the industry of the requirement for long progressions, but take note: sometimes it does not work! So you can't depend on it entirely 100%.
